How Do Cingular Push to Talk
Phones Compare to Nextel?

Cingular push to talk phones operate on Kodiak's PTT Network and Advanced Audio Services technology.

The nice part about using the Kodiak network is that calls are buffered, so there's far less distortion than with other networks.

When placing a PTT style call, Cingular's Push to Talk network is slightly slower than the Nextel system.

But once the PTT call is set up, the system works just as fast (if not faster) than Nextel's iDEN network.

Cingular PTT style phones also offer a number of advanced voice features that go far beyond what Nextel can offer.

For instance, you can start a PTT session, and then switch to a conference call allowing multiple session users, all with a push of a single button.

You can also record a voice message and have it delivered to multiple Cingular PTT users - without ringing their phones!

On the other hand, Nextel's iDEN network has limitations in both its technical enhancements, and its ability to roam.

But, if you want choices, Nextel still far exceeds any competitor in cell phone models, features, and service plans.
