All About Virgin Mobile Prepaid

Virgin Mobile is one of the largest prepaid carriers in the world. The company provides prepaid service to Australia, Canada, USA and the United Kingdom.
In the U.S.,Virgin Mobile phones operate on Sprint's all digital network. The network does not support analog calling.
Long distance calling is free, as long as you're in Sprint's network.
However, if you roam outside the network, your call will not go through. There is no roaming available with these handsets.
Prices on the carrier's prepaid phones range from $24.99, for older clearanced handsets, to a digital camera phone that sells for $149.
Prepaid Price Plans:
You are given three options to pay as you go:
- Standard option - calls cost 25 cents per minute for the first ten minutes, 10 cents per minute after that.
- Pay Day by Day - you pay 10 cents per minute for all calls, for an additional 35 cents per day.
- Pay per Month - Get 150 anytime minutes, and 150 night and weekend minutes for $29.99 per month. If you use all your minutes, Virgin Mobile automatically "bumps you up" to the next level.
Every level costs an additional $10, and provides additional anytime minutes and weekend/night minutes for you to use. You may switch between the two calling plans at any time.
Other feature costs:
Virgin Mobile offers two types of features for their prepaid phones, Virgin Xtras and Virgin XL.
- Virgin Xtras - includes music, movies, sms and ringtones. For music applications and movies, you are charged airtime and the cost of the application.
Browsing your the Xtra's menu will cost 25 cents per day.
Text messaging is free to receive, but costs 10 cents to send.
Ringtones range from $1.50 per download, to $2.50. Prices vary depending on the handset and ringtone you choose.
- Virgin XL - available only on newer "XL" phones. Download the latest games, wallpaper and screensavers. Or choose a superphonic ringtone.
Prices on XL features are simular to the Xtra package.
Refill Cards and Termination:
In order to continue your service, you must refill ("Top Up") every 90 days - even if you have a balance - or your account will become inactive.
The minimum amount required to refill your minutes is $20. You can purchase any amount in five minute increments up to $100, but you are allowed the same 90 days to refill your minutes.
If it becomes inactive, you have 60 days to purcase additional minutes to reactivate your account. If the account is not reactivated in this time period, you will lose your cell phone number and any unused minutes.
